The Times announced a price cut of 15p a copy in parts of Kent in what the newspaper described as a trial exercise. It said the move, which reduces the price to 30p on weekdays and 35p on Saturdays, would be kept under review to decide how long it should continue and whether it should be extended. Peter Stothard, the editor, said: 'The recession has made many readers more cost-conscious and there is evidence that some regular readers may be economising.'
