The ashes of the former Tory MP Sir Charles Irving will be scattered over his home town, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, by aircraft, council officials confirmed. Sir Charles, 71, who died from cancer last month, had made the dispersal a final request. He represented Cheltenham for 18 years, until he stood down in 1992.
