A transvestite man, 24, slept the night alongside girls in a Southampton children's home after deceiving police and social workers. The man, dressed as a girl and calling himself 'Laura', walked into a police station and wept, saying 'she' was a homeless teenager. Social services staff interviewed him then put him in the home. The next morning staff became suspicious and discovered the error, but as no offence had been committed, police allowed him to leave.
