GoPro footage shows the cycle commute from south to central London

With London facing another 24 hours without its Tube network after drivers went on strike, thousands have walked, run or cycled to work, with the general conclusion being: things haven’t been that bad, certainly not compared to last time.

The main pain seems to have been reserved for motorists, with drivers facing long tailbacks as traffic clogged London’s highways.

Although 250 extra buses have been placed on the roads by Transport for London, road traffic quickly stopped moving as thousands of motorists drove into the city.

For cyclists however, the commute has been rather blissful, as this GoPro footage from The Independent shows.

The cycle route – starting in Dulwich and proceeding through Battersea, Chelsea Bridge, the King’s Road and onto High Street Kensington - shows a pleasant journey hardly interrupted by traffic, although there are evidently a lot more cyclists and pedestrians than usual.

It seems Londoners have cracked how to deal with a 24-hour Tube strike.
