The bodies of a man and woman were found inside a house at Greenford, west London, which had been surrounded for 90 minutes by armed police. It was believed that the woman had been visiting her estranged husband. Both died from shotgun wounds.

One man was wounded when a gunman entered a restuarant in Brixton, south London, and fired eight shots, apparently at random.
