A DUMP containing up to a million tyres was on fire in Sheffield last night. Smoke was visible up to 15 miles away from the depot, at Deepcar. More than 40 firefighters were sent to the blaze, which is expect to continue burning today. Residents had been opposed to the opening of the tyre depot two years ago.
