GERRY ADAMS, president of Sinn Fein, and the SDLP leader John Hume issued a statement yesterday after new talks, saying the Irish people had a right to national self-determination and an internal settlement was no solution in Northern Ireland because it did not deal with 'all the relationships at the heart of the problem'.
