Union chief wins libel damages

Bill Morris, general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union, yesterday accepted undisclosed libel damages from Baroness Seear, the Liberal Democrat peer, over her assertion that he had advised his supporters to vote for her party in seats where Labour was standing third.

Michael Short, Mr Morris's solicitor, told Mr Justice Drake at the High Court that Lady Seear accepted she was misinformed and that the allegation was completely untrue.
