A Royal Mail driver, confronted by armed robbers who had kidnapped his wife, rammed their car from behind unaware that she was in the boot.
The drama began when two men broke into Jim and Pat Parkin's house in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Mrs Parkin, 50, was tied up and photographed with a shotgun at her head.
The robbers then put her in the boot of their car and intercepted Mr Parkin's security van. They showed him the photographs and ordered him to follow them. Mr Parkin, 50, decided to fight back, however, and rammed the robbers' car - forcing them to abandon it. Mrs Parkin was said to be bruised, shocked and distressed but otherwise unhurt.
