German leaders are to be invited to Britain in May 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of the ending of the war, the Prime Minister said yesterday.
Germany has not been invited to the D-Day celebrations this year to mark the Allied landings in Europe. The Prime Minister's office said it was not seen as a snub. 'The Allies are commemorating D-Day. By no stretch of the imagination were the Germans among the Allies.'
