British Coal has warned that there may no longer be a viable future for Tower Colliery, the last deep mine in Wales, where 200 miners work. The company told union leaders of its 'serious concern' over the Cynon Valley mine, one of 17 supposedly safe deep pits, because of geological problems and falling demand.
