Wife's body put in drain

A HANDYMAN who strangled his wife and hid her body in a storm drain on the 200-acre estate in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, where he worked, kept up a charade of worry and concern for five weeks after the murder, a jury was told yesterday.

Phillip Cattermole was arrested the day before he was due to appear at a press conference to appeal for help in finding the 'missing' woman. A second search by police dogs had located his wife Suzanne's body.

Mr Cattermole, who was the maintenance engineer on the Saudi Arabian businessman's estate, denies murdering his wife on 22 March last year, but admits manslaughter. The jury was told that, in interviews with police after his arrest, he admitted putting his arm around her neck until she went limp.

The case continues today.
