Woman jailed for killing partner

A woman who killed her boyfriend after suffering years of violence was yesterday jailed for three years. Jayne Gray, 28, from the Bromford Estate, Birmingham, admitted the manslaughter of Alan Woolaston, 35, on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She stabbed him as he sat in a chair when they were both drunk, Birmingham Crown Court was told.

Mr Justice Dyson said he had the 'greatest of sympathy' for the dreadful life she had lived but she must bear some responsibility for the attack.
