Thousands of people faced travel delays after vandals wrote off a fleet of buses. Workers at Stagecoach Ribble's depot in Bolton returned from their Christmas break to find 37 buses smashed beyond repair, said Greater Manchester police.

Wreckers broke into the depot in Goodwin Street and caused an estimated pounds 200,000 damage. Several buses had been driven into each other, writing off 37 and smashing the windows of six more.
