Action Movie Kid: DreamWorks dad Daniel Hashimoto turns toddler son into lightsaber-wielding CGI superhero

A dad has turned his young son into a lightsaber-wielding, telekinesis-mastering pyromaniac on YouTube. His secret? He works as an after effects artists for DreamWorks.

Hashimoto posted a series of 10-second videos featuring son James, seeing him shooting fire in the kitchen, causing mayhem with a lightsaber in a toy store, operating a grappling gun and even blasting off in a space rocket at a playpen.

The LA-based animator put his impressive CGI skills to use for them, to the delight and in many cases jealousy of YouTube viewers.

"I made them mostly because he is really funny and imaginative," Hashimoto told the Daily News. "James doesn't watch TV or movies very much. We play tons of games with him throughout the day."

Another clip sees the child inquisitively approaching a puddle, only to fall into and completely sink as though it were an ocean.

"I think they are a lot of fun," mother Mandy Richardville added of the videos. "It's so cute watching Hashi film James while he's playing around. Then he goes and turns it to magic later."

The lightsaber video has proven particularly popular, attracting half a million views alone.

"It's humbling and I'm excited that a little hobby I have is enjoyable to other people," Hashimoto said.
