A Colombian passenger plane with 134 people on board crashed in mountains near Medellin, Reuter reports from Bogota.
A Civil Aviation official said the Boeing 727 plane belonging to Colombia's SAM airline had crashed in the Cerro de San Vicente, near the town of Santa Barbara, about 40 miles south of Medellin. It carried 125 passengers and nine crew.
The plane, on a flight from Panama to Bogota, reported to air traffic controllers that it planned to make a stop at Medellin airport, but it then lost radio contact in a heavy rainstorm.
