In the first admission by the Honduran government of official involvement in disappearances, the National Commissioner for the Protection of Human Rights, Leo Valladares, said civilian and military authorities were involved in 184 cases during the 1980s, Reuter reports from Tegucigalpa. He said much evidence suggested US officials who knew of the actions did nothing to stop them.
