300 feared dead in mudslide
As many as 300 people are feared dead from a mudslide that buried two villages in the Peruvian Andes, President Alberto Fujimori said while visiting the site.
Rescue workers had recovered 41 bodies. The mudslide occurred before dawn on Tuesday, when the side of a hill saturated by rains came roaring down on the villages outside the departmental capital of Abancay, 300 miles from the capital. AP - Lima
