DJIBOUTI (Reuter) - Forty-five Somalis fleeing civil strife and famine drowned when their dhow sank in rough seas off Djibouti, witnesses said. Five people were rescued and 45 bodies found in the boat, but as many as 60 people may have died.

The Kenyan government was also negotiating yesterday with the UN over a freighter, carrying 300 Somalis who want to land at Mombasa. Hundreds of thousands of Somalis are fleeing their country after the worst drought in 100 years.
