Shells slammed into the breakaway southern stronghold of Aden yesterday, killing at least 47 people and wounding dozens more, AP reports from Sanaa. The Kuwait News Agency, which has a correspondent in the besieged city, quoted Mohsen Hamam of Aden's Gomhouria Hospital as saying most of the casualties of the shelling were women and children. The shelling came amid reports that the northern president and southern leaders had agreed to meet outside Yemen to discuss a ceasefire.
