PEKING (Reuter) - Sixty-six people were killed when their bus was hit by a train on an unmanned crossing in the north-eastern Chinese province of Liaoning yesterday, Xinhua news agency reported. It said 28 people were injured, three seriously, when the overloaded bus moved to cross as the train approached.

Among the dead was the bus driver, who was carrying 94 passengers on the privately-owned vehicle licensed to seat only 60, the official news agency said.

All the casualties were on the bus apart from the train driver, who was slightly hurt.
