MOSCOW (Reuter) - Government forces in the former Soviet republic of Georgia yesterday agreed on a new ceasefire with rebels in the Black Sea coastal region of Abkhazia, Itar-Tass news agency said. The ceasefire, the third of its kind in the last two weeks, is the latest attempt to end the bitter month-long clashes in which more than 150 people have been killed.
Georgia sent troops into Abkhazia last month after the region's parliament voted to restore the 1925 constitution, effectively demanding greater autonomy.
