Deposed Malian ministers on hunger strike

Fourteen leading politicians being held by the junta that took over Mali last week have gone on hunger strike, according to the brother of one of them.

Tiegoum Boubeye Maiga says they are protesting against their detention. Mr Maiga is the brother of Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga, who was the Foreign Minister.

Tiegoum Maiga says among those held with his brother are the Justice and Interior Ministers and the Mayor of Bamako. AP
