Gunmen attacked a civilian vehicle with rocket-propelled grenades and machine-guns yesterday near the Kenya-Somali border, killing four people.
Nelly Muluka-Oluoch, a Kenyan Red Cross spokeswoman, said her workers had been to the site of the attack in north-east Kenya, and said the vehicle was carrying school examination papers.
Kenya has sent hundreds of troops into Somalia to attack al-Shabaab militants after two aid workers were kidnapped by gunmen near the border two weeks ago. Al-Shabaab, which has links to al-Qa'ida, has threatened to retaliate with attacks in Kenya, and this was their third counterattack in a week.
