The family of a British woman who was killed in a terror attack on a museum in Tunisia have spoken of their “devastation” at receiving news of her death.

Sally Adey, 57, was among at least 21 people killed during the assault by gunmen on the Bardo Museum in Tunis. She was in the capital with her husband Robert, who was unharmed in the shooting.

Ms Adey was a trained solicitor and mother from Shropshire. Her husband is listed as a partner at Shakespeares Solicitors in Birmingham.

Julia Holden, also a partner at Shakespeares Solicitors and a close friend of the family, issued a statement on the family's behalf.

She said: "Sally Adey was a much-loved daughter, wife and mother. The family are devastated by her loss. They are also saddened for others who have lost people they love, and for those who have been hurt."

Ms Adey was described as a full time "mum with kids at uni" who had worked in "Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, Telford and Birmingham in company/commercial law, training, admin and HR", according to a profile on the website Beemee.

Ms Adley’s neighbour Annette Crawshaw, 73, expressed her “horror” at her death.

She told The Independent: “They are a lovely family. I last spoke to Sally at Christmas time. She seemed delighted to be spending time with her family. I’ve lived pretty much next door to her and her family for ten years. There are only a few houses here so we all look out for one another.

“I was absolutely shocked when I heard the news of her death. You never imagine someone you live near would ever be mixed up in such horror.”
