Parliament in Kampala appeared to have dropped plans to debate an anti-gay bill yesterday after a global outcry.
The bill, which proposes the death penalty for some homosexual acts, was first proposed in 2009. It was in the committee stage and was scheduled to be debated before the full parliament yesterday, but has been removed from the schedule.
The future of the bill remained murky. Yesterday was parliament's last day of session, but it could technically be carried over to the next session.
