Tunis - The Algerian President, Liamine Zeroual, started talks with five opposition parties favourable towards the banned Islamic Salvation Front (FIS), in the hope of ending more than two years of political conflict and killings. Previous talks instigated by his predecessors since late 1992 have failed to resolve the crisis in which more than 4,000 people have been killed. Reuter
