Paris - Both Algerian government security forces and militant Islamic insurgents have 'brutally' killed thousands of Algerian citizens in the country's nearly three years of political violence, Amnesty International, the London-based human rights group, said.
Torture, virtually eliminated three years ago, is widespread among police and military. Both kill civilians as an alternative to arrest or in retaliation for attacks by armed groups, said Amnesty. AP
