Afghan deaths probe soldier flying home

The American soldier suspected in a killing spree in Afghanistan is being flown to the US, reports say.

The Kuwaiti military said the US military "has flown out the soldier, who was in Kuwait in transit and left the country this afternoon".

The statement was carried on the Kuwaiti state news agency.

The soldier was moved from Afghanistan on Wednesday to a confinement facility at a US base in Kuwait.

A senior US defence official said the soldier was expected to be taken to the US military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, within hours.
