Bill Cosby appears to smile in newly released prison mug shot
Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated indecent assault
A newly released prison mug shot shows Bill Cosby appearing to smile, with a disposable mask hanging off his face.
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections recently updated Cosby’s photo – a practice done routinely in order to document changes in inmates’ appearances as they age.
Cosby’s new photo, released on Tuesday, was taken on 4 September.
The 83-year-old was convicted in April 2018 of three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
He was sentenced in September of that year to three to 10 years in prison, which he is serving now.
An appeals court had upheld his conviction, but the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed this year to review two key issues in the case.
The appeal is scheduled to be heard on 1 December.
Cosby, a once-beloved comedian long known as “America’s Dad,” became the first celebrity convicted of sexual misconduct in the #MeToo era.
He was convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home near Philadelphia in 2004.
