There were ugly scenes on the streets of Rio de Janeiro last night after peaceful demonstrations turned violent.

While most of the protests have been peaceful, a small group of people threw incendiary devices and clashed with police. They were eventually dispersed using tear gas.

Crowds of people turned out in support of teachers, who are demanding better education and services in Brazil.
