A video showing Breonna Taylor singing and dancing has gone viral on Twitter, where it was shared on the first anniversary of her death.

The clip shows Ms Taylor, who officers from Louisville Metro Police Department shot dead after they fired a round into her apartment amid a botched drug raid, singing and smiling.

“Squares out your Circle” plays in the background as three others dance and sing along to the R&B single with Ms Taylor.

Brooke Ariel, who on Saturday shared the clip on the anniversary of Ms Taylor's death, wrote that it was probably the first time many people would have seen her moving, following a year long campaign for justice.

"This might be the first time you actually saw Breonna Taylor on video," Ms Ariel wrote. "This is how I want to remember Her. Filled with life and love."

She added, along with the hashtags “Justice for Breonna Taylor”, “Say her name” and “Black Lives Matter”, that "when we get your justice we finna turn up just like this in your name."

Another user wrote that “seeing her as herself, and not a two dimensional photo brought me nearly to tears. The weight of knowing Black women aren’t valued is sometimes unbearable.”

More than 600,000 people have viewed the clip since it was shared on Twitter on Saturday — the same day as hundreds were due to take part in a demonstration in downtown Louisville.

Ms Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, told Good Morning Britain ahead of the anniversary that she did not want the date to be a “celebration”, but instead a renewed call for justice.

“Because we’re not, it’s one year later and we’re still asking for the system to do the right thing,” Ms Palmer said of a Kentucky grand jury who failed to charge any of the officers for the death.

“I’ve never seen something so black and white be so hard, nobody willing to stand up and do what’s right or be the first person to do the right thing,” she added.

The city of Louisville banned the use of ‘no-knock’ warrants following the incident, and officers are now required to wear body cameras while conducting search warrants.

Two police officers who fired shots back at Ms Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, a licensed gun owner, during the botched raid were also dismissed.
