Police in Jamaica say John Terry has been found slain at his home in Montego Bay.
Police say the honorary consul had been beaten and his throat was tied with cord and clothing. Authorities have not revealed any possible motive and no arrests have been made.
Terry had lived in Jamaica since 1967 and represented the British High Commission on the Caribbean island's western end. The 65-year-old diplomat was a native of New Zealand.
Commission spokesman Brendon Gill declined to comment on the case, deferring to police.
Police spokesman Karl Angell said that Terry's neighbours found the body in his garden yesterday afternoon.
