California wildfires: Paradise resident films escape from blaze

Estimated 250,000 people forced to flee homes to avoid three major infernos that swept across state

As wildfires continue to scorch California, the death toll has risen to 31, with 200 still missing.

Footage shows residents driving through the flames, as an estimated 250,000 people were forced to flee their homes to avoid three major infernos which swept across the state.

The fires started on 8 November but the strengthening winds have prevented crews from tackling the blaze.

Donald Trump previously blamed California’s forest management for the blaze, which led to Neil Young to post on his website: "California is vulnerable – not because of poor forest management as DT (our so-called president) would have us think. We are vulnerable because of Climate Change; the extreme weather events and our extended drought is part of it."

The president has since tweeted his support for the California firefighters, describing them as "amazing" and "brave".

The fire is the most destructive in the state's history and the joint deadliest with the 1933 Griffith Park disaster in Los Angeles.
