An Afghan suicide attacker with the name of a Pakistan-based militant group on his waistcoat has driven a car bomb into a Canadian military convoy in south Afghanistan, wounding five soldiers and killing himself, officials said.
The attack, on the outskirts of Kandahar, will fuel Afghan suspicions that a recent wave of suicide bombings have been planned in Pakistan.
In a separate development, Afghan police clashed with suspected Taliban militants in the Helmand province, killing eight and arresting 10 others. Four police were wounded.
The violence continued yesterday when the Sangin district chief was killed by two men as he walked to a shop and a roadside bomb in the Maiwand district killed a policeman and wounded two others.AP
