Carjacker pinned woman to driver’s seat and led officers on chase to another state

Victim remained stuck under Tomasz Dymek ‘during the entire ordeal and was unable to access the vehicle’s brake’

A man is accused of leading police on a chase from New Jersey to Pennsylvania after carjacking a woman's vehicle by sitting in her lap.

At about 1.15pm on Thursday, Tomasz Dymek, from Wistoria, Queens, asked two women, who were sitting in a car in a CVS car park, if they had any spare change to give him.

Mr Dymek allegedly became irate after one of the women, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of the running car, only gave him $1.

The 31-year-old “was not satisfied with the dollar so he forced his way into the victim’s vehicle and drove from the lot, sitting on top of her in the driver’s seat,” a statement from the Ewing Police Department read.

The other woman, who was sitting in the passenger seat, managed to escape, and ran inside the pharmacy and asked for help, as Mr Dymek drove away, while pinning the 66-year-old woman to the seat below them.

The incident was witnessed by others in the car park, who called the police and followed the vehicle, as Mr Dymek drove onto the road.

Mr Dymek was spotted by authorities in Trenton, New Jersey, and they followed him to the Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, according to ABC 6.

Lieutenant Jacobs, of the Ewing police Department, said that “at that point, the suspect sees our officer approaching and gets back on to Route 1 into Pennsylvania.”

Officers followed Mr Dymek into the neighbouring state, and tried to get him to pull over, but the driver refused and continued down the road.

The officer said the woman “made several attempts to try and slide her foot under the suspect’s legs to try to hit the brake,” but “remained pinned under Dymek during the entire ordeal and was unable to access the vehicle’s brake,” the news release added.

Mr Dymek was finally caught, after he drove into a signpost, causing his tyre to go flat, according to the outlet.

He pulled over when it was clear the car could no longer go on, and was arrested by police after a brief foot chase.

The victim was unhurt in the incident, and Mr Dymek is being held in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, pending charges.
