The Farc rebel group said yesterday that it will seek a ceasefire once peace talks with the government begin.
Mauricio Jaramillo, a senior rebel commander, said at a press conference in the Cuban capital, Havana, that Farc would make the proposal "immediately when we sit at the table".
The talks, the first since a failed attempt at peace a decade ago, are set to begin on 8 October in Norway before moving to Cuba. The Colombian government named its five negotiators on Wednesday.
