Deer breaks through hairdresser's window in New York

The quiet tranquillity of a weekend appointment at the hairdresser was broken as a lost deer broke through a New York City salon’s window.

In surveillance footage from the salon in Long Island a man can be seen having his hair trimmed, as another woman waits on a sofa for her appointment, when chaos strikes.

The window is seen to shatter as the deer breaks through the window, gallops across the seated woman’s lap before running amok in the salon.

The hairdresser and salon owner Jenisse Heredia is heard to scream; ‘Oh my God, oh my God,” as she dodges the running buck, which momentarily runs out of shot.

Moments later it can be seen coming back into the camera’s view as it runs free, out the door, with a straightening iron in tow.

Ms Heredia said she was cutting a client’s hair when she heard “this wild crash” and thought it was a car.

“But when I looked I saw a deer coming at me,” she said.

The buck ran to the break room at the back of the shop, came back out and hit a mirror, then ran out with an iron caught on its antlers, Ms Heredia said.

Police said one client suffered leg and head pain and was treated at a hospital.

Although the buck ran through the shop thrashing its antlers, it caused little damage other than to the front door and window, Ms Heredia said. “It’s crazy It didn’t break anything,” she said.

The salon, which is closed on Sundays, was due to open as usual on Monday, she said.
