Federal agents are investigating an incident at FBI field office in Pittsburgh after a man drove a dump truck through the security gate.

The man was reportedly driving erratically before he was stopped by a police officers, whom he told he intended to drive into the building.

“He indicated to the officer that he was intending to ram the gate,” FBI supervisory special agent Greg Heeb told WTAE. “He did just that – put his truck back into gear, took off and went through the gate here at our headquarters.”

The vehicle was disabled by security barriers after ramming through the gate, the Associated Press reported. The truck was registered in Ohio, but no other information about the driver has been released.

Investigators are still attempting to determine the man’s motive. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Others were not harmed at the scene.

The US Attorney’s office said that they would prosecute if any federal charges are filed.

“We don’t know yet how it’s going to play out,” Mr Heeb added. “Obviously the biggest focus for us is going to be his mental state and what was his history.”
