A thoughtful father of the bride has been celebrated for stopping his daughter’s wedding procession to ensure an important member of the family was recognised in the ceremony.

Father Todd Bachmann brought the members of his daughter Brittany Peck’s wedding ceremony to tears when he stopped the procession and grabbed the hand of the bride’s step-father, Todd Cendrosky.

“He came and grabbed my hand, and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,” Cendrosky told WKYC-TV.

Photographer Delia Blackburn captured the moment that Peck’s father took her step-father’s hand, which caused Cendrosky to cry along with the rest of the congregation in Lorain County, Ohio.

“Not a dry eye at the ceremony… including me!” Blackburn wrote on Facebook, sharing the images of the two men arm in arm with their daughter on the aisle and of them embracing each other afterwards, which have been shared thousands of times since Monday.

Bachman admitted that the relationship between himself and Peck’s step-father had not always been “peaches and cream,” but said he wanted to be able to thank Cendrosky for helping to raise “our daughter,” USA Today reported.

“There is no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walker her down the aisle,” he said.
