Faye Swetlik: Desperate search for 6-year-old girl who vanished outside South Carolina home

Hundreds of police are searching for a 6-year-old South Carolina girl who has been missing since Monday.

More than 250 police officers have been trying to locate Faye Swetlik. The first-grader was last seen around 3:45pm after she got off the school bus and was playing outside her home in Cayce, a town outside Columbia, South Carolina.

WIS News 10 reported the girl’s family reported her missing around 5pm on Monday.

Faye was last seen wearing a black shirt and polka-dot boots. The 6-year-old is reportedly lactose intolerant and has a speech impediment and a tethered tongue.

Authorities said they planned to go door-to-door to search for the child. The FBI has also gotten involved in the search and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone in the area with security cameras to reach out to them.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Myrick shared video on Twitter of FBI agents going door to door to question neighbours about the missing girl.

Cayce Public Safety Department Sergeant Evan Antley said local police have received many offers from residents volunteering their time to help the search. He said the police would do everything possible to find the girl.

"We want to get Faye back home so we’re not leaving any stone unturned," Mr Antley said.

The Cayce Public Safety Department has established a specific hotline just for tips regarding the girl’s location.
