Twin sisters who were born conjoined but defied the odds to survive separation surgery have celebrated their tenth birthdays.
Josie and Teresita Quiej-Alvarez, from Guatemala, attracted worldwide attention in 2002 when they were separated in a 23-hour procedure at a Los Angeles hospital.
Among the guests at their Hawaiian-themed party on Saturday were many members of the 50-person surgical team involved.
