Channel 4's Ivanka Trump documentary assesses influence of President's daughter

Ivanka Trump’s alleged desire to become US President is the subject of a new film.

Speculation has grown about the first daughter's political ambitions after she was recently appointed as an assistant to her father, Donald. Although she in an official employee, her role is unpaid.

Psychologists, political analysts and academics all speculate about whether she may intend to be the next US head of state, in the Channel 4 documentary, presented by Matt Frei.

“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she had political ambitions herself," author and investigative journalist Vicky Ward, who has interviewed both the President and his eldest daughter tells the veteran news man.

Indicating Ms Trump had a combative nature like her father, Ms Ward added: “When describing her dad to me one time, she said: ‘My father is the most loyal, kind and much more detail-oriented builder than you give him credit for, but if you hit him, he’s going to hit you right back.’

“She said that with great approval. She’s got that in her."

Ms Trump – a former model, reality TV star and businesswoman – has long been considered a moderating influence on her father.

An advocate gender equality and climate change, Ms Trump, some commentators have claimed that she has helped to soften the public image of the man who has previously described women as “bimbos” and “fat pigs” and appointed a climate change sceptic, Scott Pruitt, to head up the Environmental Protection Agency.
