'This was a brutal execution': Teenager charged with double homicide of girlfriend's parents

A teenager has been charged with fatally shooting the Wisconsin parents of his girlfriend.

Khari Sanford, 18, was charged with first-degree murder and use of a dangerous weapon, according to the Associated Press.

18-year-old Ali’jah Larrue who was a friend of Mr Sanford’s was also charged as an accomplice.

“This was a brutal execution,” Dane County assistant district attorney William Brown said, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The criminal complaint said the daughter of the victims, Dr Beth Potter, 52, and her husband, 57-year-old Robin Carre, was Mr Sanford’s girlfriend.

According to the complaint, Potter and Carre had recently moved their daughter and Mr Sanford into an apartment as Potter had a medical condition that put her at more at risk of the virus and the young couple was failing to observe social distancing measures.

The bodies of Potter and Carre were found in the University of Wisconsin Arboretum on 31 March.

Autopsies found both victims were shot in the back of the head, apparently the night before their bodies were discovered

Mr Sanford’s attorney, Crystal Vera, declined comment when contacted by the news agency.

Mr Larrue’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
