Kobe Bryant: 911 calls from helicopter crash released

Authorities have shared the emergency calls made by witnesses at the scene of the crash

Tragic 911 calls from the day of Kobe Bryant's helicopter crash in Calabasas have been released.

Audio transcripts reveal how residents of the exclusive neighbourhood called in to report a helicopter vanishing from the sky and the fiery wreckage on the ground.

At the time no one realised who was onboard. Later it emerged the aircraft belonged to former LA Laker star Bryant and was carrying him, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.

'I can hear this plane', one man told the dispatcher, according to the audio obtained by ABC 15 Arizona.

'We couldn't see it and then we just heard a boom and a dead sound. Then I can see the flames.'

Another man witnessed the helicopter vanish from the sky.

'I just heard a helicopter go over me,' he said. 'It went over my head, it is thick in the clouds and then I heard a pop and it immediately stopped.'

The calls were released as authorities began to dismantle a massive Kobe Bryant fan-generated memorial across the street from Staples Center in Los Angeles.

All items left behind are being catalogued and given to the Bryant family, per their request.
