A man has been shot in the arm at a Pride event in San Francisco.

An unnamed 64-year-old bystander was injured in crossfire after an argument between several young men turned violent.

There were chaotic scenes as dozens of people ran away screaming and armed police officers rushed to the scene.

Four shots were heard in a video recorded by a witness, and uploaded to Twitter by media monitoring service, Coral News.

Officer Carlos Manfredi said the man was taken to hospital and remains in a stable condition.

He said several people have been detained for questioning.

The attack came as a concert which was part of the weekend-long Pride celebrations was wrapping up but police have confirmed the argument was nothing to do with the event.
