A US man has been charged with the long-unsolved murder of a seven-year-old girl who was abducted in 1957.

Jack Daniel McCullough, 71, has been charged with killing Maria Ridulph, who was taken from near her home in Chicago, 54 years ago. McCullough, who was 18 at the time, was originally a suspect but the case went cold when he joined the army. However fresh information led police to him two years ago.
