More than 130 prisoners have escaped through a tunnel from a jail near the US border.

The tunnel, about 21ft long and 9ft 6in deep, was dug out from the carpentry workshop to the perimeter fence at the prison in Piedras Negras in Coahuila.

The state's Attorney General said the prison director and two other staff were being questioned about their possible involvement.
