The death of a 22-year-old woman who was mauled by two dogs has been ruled a suicide by a medical examiner in the US.

Rebecca Hardy, from Michigan, climbed the fence into a back garden which housed a pit bull and a pitbull-husky mixed dog. After Ms Hardy climbed in, the dogs attacked her face and lower parts of her body. She was taken to hospital where she later died from her injuries.

In a report to Port Huron police, the Medical Examiner’s office deemed Ms Hardy’s death as a suicide.

Her fiancé, Matthew Grattan told the Times Herald that he doesn’t agree with the ruling.

He said: “I, in no way, shape or form, believe that she was looking to hurt herself on that day. “She had a little girl … She wanted us to be a family.”

The Port Huron Police are continuing the investigation into Ms Hardy’s death.
