The naked body of a missing 13-year-old girl has been found dumped in a car park near her home in Northern California.

Genelle Conway-Allen’s body was discovered by a homeless man about five miles from the Suisun City bus stop where she was last seen.

CCTV cameras in the city captured the seventh grader getting off a bus after spending the day at Green Valley Middle School in nearby Fairfield last Thursday.

Police have released the CCTV stills in the hope they jog the memory of anybody who saw her in distress shortly afterwards and who might therefore be able to help identify a possible suspect.

Despite an autopsy reportedly taking place, police said they were still unsure how Genelle was killed.

They said she had been wearing a grey sweater and skinny blue jeans at the time of her disappearance and was also carrying a pink backpack.

Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle, Genelle’s aunt Natalie Paasch suggested her niece had had a difficult time growing up.

Ms Paasch reportedly said: “She had a hard life, and this is how it ends. It's tragic…She was always the one looking out for her family, even when her family wasn't looking out for her“.

Other relatives described her life as “troubled” saying that Genelle and her 10-year-old brother had been shuttled between care homes all their lives and had little or no involvement with their father.

Eric May, the 54-year-old homeless man who found Genelle’s body, said he was initially questioned by police but had been released.

Describing his grim discovery, Mr May said: “She looked like a mannequin. It hurts my soul to think someone could do that to a little girl. I'm haunted by the image of her laying there without a stitch of clothing.”
